PARTNERS
The Union is a membership organisation with partners in all
regions of the world. Constituent members, organisational members and
individual members all have one goal: to improve lung health globally.
This can only been achieved through partnership with other organisations
such as NGOs, WHO, UNICEF, etc., and governments.
One example of these partnerships is the Stop TB Partnership (http://www.stoptb.org),
of which the Union is a founding member. This Partnership is now a
powerful coalition which works closely to coordinate tuberculosis control
activities. It also includes many donor agencies, including the World
Bank.
The International Non Governmental Coalition Against Tobacco (INGCAT)
(http://www.ingcat.org) was also co-founded by the Union.
This coalition aims at reducing the burden of death and disease due
to tobacco use, and at assisting especially developing countries to
develop strategies and policies to avoid the disastrous impact of tobacco
on future generations.
Working in partnership is one of the most important philosophies of
the Union. All of its activities are targeted at furthering sustainable
control services in the areas of tuberculosis, asthma, tobacco prevention,
child lung health and other lung related diseases.
